Incredible tasting in Miami hosted by @ugcbwines this week. A standout for me was the 5th growth @chateauhautbailly. Often considered a more feminine, sensual expression of Pauillac due to its southern location, the 2021 had a racy, rocky mineral nose and super pure fruit. Levity with depth. Historic expression with youthful vibrancy. Tension with ease. Textbook notes met dreaminess in my glass!
A great gift to Miami is @maisonmura.wine . @champagnebreaker is soulful & generous! 1971 @piper_heidsieck , 50 years on lees tonight… old shoppe butterscotch-caramel rich nose and the Maillard reaction in full effect. The acidity is still racing but age provides a breadth of parting salty waves of texture, relaxing the overall experience.
